Microvast Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MVST), a technology innovator that designs, develops and manufactures lithium-ion battery solutions, introduces new battery packs for its high-energy, high-performance cell technologies that offer market-leading energy density, fast charge capability, and outstanding cycle life.

Samples of the MV-B and MV-C Gen 4 battery packs and other Microvast product offerings will be on display at the Microvast booth at IAA Transportation 2022 in Hannover, Germany this week.

Microvast’s two new battery cells announced earlier this year, known as the MpCO-48Ah (high capacity) and HpCO-53.5Ah (high energy), have the same dimensions and are fully insertable into all of Microvast’s Gen 4 battery packs and the new MV to be integrated -I pack.

Our new pack offerings are designed to address diversified technical needs across the commercial vehicle segment, giving customers the ability to source cell-to-pack technologies from one trusted supplier.

“Our new generation cells and packs are available for sample orders and are expected to go into mass production at our 3.1 facility in Huzhou in Q1 2023.”

Improved battery packs offer a complete off-the-shelf commercial vehicle solution

The MV-B and MV-C Gen 4 battery packs maintain similar dimensions to their predecessors, but deliver about 20% more energy and power. The new packs also implement additional features at the module and pack level to improve thermal management and safety control to meet upcoming thermal runaway safety standards.

The 4th generation battery packs are designed and can be certified to meet national battery standards (ECE R100.3, GB 38031 & UL2580).

Microvast also introduces a new product series called “MV-I Pack” which is an all-in-one integrated battery pack with market-leading specifications:

  • Cooling plate integrated in the housing to minimize the risk of coolant leakage into the battery pack
  • Lightweight design with innovative technologies to increase energy density up to 180Wh/kg at pack level while maintaining the robustness required for commercial applications.
  • The integrated BDU offers significantly higher modularity and flexibility for vehicle integration (with multi-string management system to cover the widest energy range on board from 62 kWh to 640 kWh with similar system architecture)

Microvast’s new MpCO 48Ah and HpCO 53.5Ah pouch cells are available in the same size and can be integrated into Gen 4 battery packs. This high level of compatibility allows OEMs to switch battery technology based on operational needs without significant powertrain design changes.

In addition, the lightweight and durable pack design combined with our new battery cells offers an attractive price/performance ratio for total cost of ownership and best-in-class performance. Microvast expects these new solutions to become key revenue drivers.

Microvast has delivered sample products to its OEM partners in the commercial vehicle market throughout 2022, with series production expected to begin in 2023.
