GOT7’s Jay B released his second solo EP on Wednesday and discussed the new album with a series of Q＆As ahead of the full release.
As the title “Be Yourself” suggests, he wanted to encourage listeners to enjoy more and live more fully, and to take a lighter approach. The singer-songwriter had all six tracks in his hands, and he dived into funk for the lead track “go UP” for the first time.
“I wanted to make a song that was upbeat enough in both performance and music that it would get everyone to get into a rhythm,” he said.
The overall ambience of the EP, he said, could be summed up in one word – freedom.
“Freedom is ingrained in the album as a whole, and in every single song… and that’s what makes the EP appealing,” he said.
