Rangers Announce 2022-23 Training Camp Roster and Schedule


New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team will open the 2022-23 training camp presented by Northwell Health on Wednesday, September 21 with player medical coverage. The team will hold their first on-ice session on Thursday 22nd September at the MSG Training Center in Tarrytown. The training camp will run through Sunday, October 9 and will include six preseason games, all starting at 7:00 p.m. ET – Sept. 26 vs. NYI, Sept. 27 at BOS, Sept. 29 vs. NJD, Sept 30 at NJD, Oct 5 vs BOS and Oct 8 at NYI.

This fall, the club invited 66 players to the training camp, divided into 41 forwards, 18 defenders and seven goalkeepers. Twenty-two players played at least one NHL game for Rangers last season while joining offseason Ryan Carpenter, Turner Elson, Gustav Rydahl, Vincent Trocheck, Ty Emberson, Andy Welinsky, Yaroslav Halak and Louis Domingue will represent the Blueshirts for the first time. Three draft picks (Maxim Barbashev, Bryce McConnell-Barker, Adam Sykora) from the Entry Draft 2022 will also participate in the camp. After a season in which he scored 52 goals and set a team-record 26 power-play goals, Chris Kreider will begin his 12th season (including the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs) with New York, the longest tenure by an active Ranger.

At the start of the training camp, the Rangers roster will be divided into three teams. On Thursday, September 22nd, Team A and B will play at the MSG Training Center from 10:00am and Team C will be on the ice for practice from 12:45pm. On Friday September 23rd, Team A and C will compete at 10:00am while Team B practices at 12:45pm. On Saturday, September 24, Team B and C will face off at 10:00 a.m. while Team A will train at 12:45 p.m. On all three days, players are available to the media after their respective team’s training session. Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant will be available for media on Wednesday 21 September at 3pm at the MSG Training Centre.

Additional information on morning practice times and skates during the pre-season will be provided daily after the opening weekend of training camp.
