LIRR Announces Multiple Travel Suspensions In Coming Weekends

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — The Long Island Rail Road will suspend service between Jamaica and Hicksville several times this month as it continues work on the LIRR expansion project.

On several weekends, train services will be suspended from Saturday 00:15 a.m. to Monday morning 02:30 a.m. The planned dates are: 23.-26. Sept, Sept 30-Sep 30 Oct 3 and 28-31 October. There will also be service disruptions at the Hempstead branch on 29th and 30th October.

The suspensions are necessary as LIRR crews work on tracks, signals, switches and stations.

New Hyde Park and Merillon Avenue stations will remain closed during the work. Drivers should use the Stewart Manor or Nassau Boulevard stations on the Hempstead Branch instead.

Mineola, Carle Place and Westbury train stations will also be closed, but there will be bus options. Your LIRR ticket is accepted on NICE bus routes n22 and n24 to travel between Mineola and HIcksville, including stops at Westbury and Carle Place. Tickets are also accepted on the n40/n41 bus from Mineola to Hempstead, where you can transfer to other trains to travel west.
