Frisco H-E-B opens to long lines of shoppers

FRISCO, Texas – The long-awaited opening of HE-B’s first North Texas store in Frisco was met with long lines of customers hoping to get first-time gains, insights and more at the 118,000-square-foot facility. Buyers were already camping out on Tuesday afternoon, just in time for the grand opening on Wednesday.

“Opening our flagship HEB format in the DFW area has been an ambitious goal of ours for many years, and the company has a long-term commitment to serving a diverse spectrum of customers and communities throughout North Texas,” said Stephen Butt, President of Central Market Division and board member of HEB. “The DFW Metroplex is among the most competitive markets in the country and our HEB partners work hard every day to earn the trust of our customers.”

From the time the store opened at 6 a.m. until it closed at 11 p.m., traffic around 4800 Main Street in Frisco — the location of the HEB store — remained constant. Prior to its opening, the state’s largest private employer held job fairs in hopes of filling more than 500 positions at its Frisco and Plano locations.

“HEB is a company known for its unwavering commitment to Texas, and we’re excited to have them join our community,” said Jeff Cheney, Mayor of Frisco. “So, let me be the first to say, Frisco, welcome to My HEB.”

Similar to other HE-Bs across the state, art installations by local artists adorn the outside of the Frisco store. According to official figures, the construction of the Plano store will be completed this fall and opened before the new year. HEB began construction on land at McKinney and Allen. The company also announced plans to build a store in Mansfield, slated to begin in early 2023.

“Our partners, who are the heart of HEB, are very excited and energetic, and they’ve been waiting for this day to introduce HEB to North Texas,” said Juan-Carlos Rück, Executive Vice President of HEB. “HEB partners from across the company have come together to make this day a reality and they have done an amazing job tailoring this store for Frisco and the surrounding neighborhoods.”
