Fireclay Tile Announces its inaugural recipient of their Diversity Advancement Scholarship

Fireclay Tile is pleased to introduce the incredibly talented Oni Thornell as the first recipient of her Diversity Advancement Grant.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, Sept. 22, 2022 / — As Fireclay Tile has entered its third year of partnering with the Architects Foundation on grants for black women in architecture, they are thrilled to see the incredibly talented artwork Introducing artist and future architect Oni Thornell as the first recipient of her Fireclay Diversity Advancement Scholarship.

Thornell’s thoughtful approach to environmental and community impact demonstrates a keen understanding of the forward-thinking changes that Fireclay deeply respects. With inspirational changemakers like Oni, it’s easy to see how a better, more inclusive future is possible for everyone. Thornell, from Brooklyn, NY, receives $4,000 a year in tuition for up to five years to attend Syracuse University.

Incorporating diverse perspectives and cultures in architecture is an enrichment to the profession, and the Diversity Advancement Scholarship offers students with a passion for studying the discipline of architecture the opportunity to successfully complete their degree regardless of their race or background. With the help of generous donations from brand partners, friends and customers, Fireclay has raised over $120,000 to date.
