DOMINION Roars Past $1 Billion Globally; Third Film Of The Pandemic-Era To Hit The Milestone


It took every last second of summer, but Universal and Amblin’s Jurassic World: Dominion has finally surpassed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office! The film is also available on Blu-ray and digital!

It took every last second of summer, but as the calendar turns the page to fall, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment Jurassic World: Dominion surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The film, which united the cast of Newer World with the cast of Legacy Park, has grossed over US$376 million domestically and US$624 million internationally (including over US$158 million from China and US$45 million from China Japan), which equates to just over $1 billion. It’s the third film in the storied franchise to roar beyond the character and join its immediate 2015 predecessors Jurassic world ($1.672 billion) and 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($1.310 billion).

To make the feat even more impressive, this is Jurassic World Dominion – Extended Edition has been available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital HD since mid-August and is also currently available to stream on Peacock.

The Colin Trevorrow-directed blockbuster is now the third film to hit the monumental milestone in the pandemic era, following that of Sony and Marvel Studios. Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.916 billion) and Paramounts Top Gun: Maverick ($1.464 billion). It is also now the 50th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide and ranked 49th domestically.

While the future remains to be determined, Universal is unlikely to let what’s arguably its biggest franchise rest for too long, although we can imagine there will be a considerable wait for anything new to materialize, with this final installment scheduled to end in was billed to Jurassic Park Saga.

Stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong were quick to celebrate the news as they wrapped up their trilogy with a big bang.

In our review of Colin Trevorrow’s franchise capper, we said, “Jurassic World: Dominion is pure dinosaur mayhem at its finest, 100% fueled by nostalgia and enhanced by epic dinosaur action, making it one of the most entertaining films of the summer. Due to a mediocre story, enjoyment will likely depend heavily on your investment in the series, but if you’re looking for two hours of chaotic entertainment then this is definitely the film for you.
