BROOKLYN, NY, UNITED STATES, Sept. 23, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — BROOKLYN (September 19, 2022) — Bellet Construction was hired by the Brooklyn Public Library System to perform repairs to the Brooklyn Historical Society’s terracotta facade at 128 Pierpont Street in Brooklyn Heights, New York. A Registered National Historic Landmark, the Romanesque Revival style building was designed by architect George B. Post, who also designed the New York Stock Exchange, and was completed in 1881. Located on the corner of Pierpont Street and Clinton Street, the five-story, 36,000-square-foot building has suffered damage from natural elements over the years, including extensive water infiltration.

“There are many older and even historic buildings in the library system, so we need to make sure they remain in excellent condition,” says Patrick Valentine, operations manager for the Brooklyn Public Library. “Bellet Construction’s long history of restoring landmark facades gives us the confidence that this particular project is in good hands.”

Wayne Bellet, President of Bellet Construction, adds: “We are honored to have been selected to work on this iconic center and ensure it remains a bastion of culture for another 200 years and beyond. We have successfully restored many building facades made of highly porous terracotta over the years and understand that both skill and patience are required.”
