UPSC Recruitment 2022: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has solicited applications for the 2023 Combined (Preliminary) Geoscientist Examination from those candidates who duly meet the eligibility criteria in relation to multiple posts under Category A and Category B in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines and Central Groundwater Office, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The Online Recruitment Application (ORA) process ends on October 11, 2022 (6:00 p.m.). Applicants can withdraw their respective online applications from October 19, 2022 to October 25, 2022 (October 25, 2022) until 6:00 p.m.
How to apply: Application with registration/examination fee, photo ID; namely, Aadhar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driver’s License/Any other central government/state government issued photo ID.
Combined geoscientific examination 2023: The Union Civil Service Commission is conducting a 2023 Pan India Computerized Screening Test (CBST) Combined (Preliminary) Examination to shortlist the candidates for the 2023 Geoscientist Combined (Major) Examination. The UPSC will host on February 19, 2023 under the rules published by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India on September 21, 2022. The UPSC will conduct the 2023 main exam on June 24th and 25th, 2023.
Selection process: The Union Civil Service Commission conducts the selection for category I and II posts in the 03 stages explained below:
01) Tier-I: Combined geoscientific (preliminary) examination consisting of target type work for a maximum of 400 points for the selection of candidates for Stage II:
02) Tier-II: Combined geoscientific (main) examination 2023 (conventional work) for a maximum of 600 points
03) Stage-III: Personality test/interview for 200 marks
04) Merit List is determined taking into account the grades achieved by the candidates in the main written examination and in the personality test.

Age limit (as of January 1st, 2023)
i) General Merit Candidates should be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old.
ii) Relaxation of upper age limits for reserved community candidates.
Any suitable candidate must have the following:
i) For Geologist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India (GSI) a Masters Degree in Geology or Geology or Applied Geology or Geoexploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Sciences and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Area Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from a duly recognized university.
ii) For Geophysicist Group “A” in Geological Survey of India and Scientist “B” (Geophysics) Group “A” in Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from any regular university
iii) For Chemical Group ‘A’ in the Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemistry) in the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) an M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a duly recognized university.
iv) For Scientists “B” (Hydrogeology) Group “A” in CGWB a Masters degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a duly recognized university.

Registration/examination fee and method of payment:
Other reserved communities, including females in the General category, and all other reserved communities and persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) remain exempt from paying the application/examination fee.
Payment mode: online. Visa/Master/RuPay/UPI Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card through any bank’s internet banking, payable at any of the branches of State Bank of India.
