Kids Kitchen – Apples, apples, apples galore

Where: Swanton Recreation, 16 Jewett St., Swanton

Details: This workshop provides a structured kitchen environment for children in grades 1-6. Lessons in nutrition, kitchen safety and cooking are provided by an experienced chef and each workshop costs $10 per child. Register online at Swanton Recreation’s website.

Zen with a pen

Where: Swanton Public Library, 1 First St., Swanton

Details: Discover creative doodling with Judy Paxman to relieve the stress of the week. Advance registration is required by calling (802) 868-2559 or emailing [email protected] This event is sponsored by the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi and the VT Dept. Of Health provided free of charge.

Child car seat inspection event

When: 9am-12pm Saturday 24 September

Where: Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, 2996 VT Route 78, Highgate

Details: Ensure your child drives safely by attending this free car seat inspection. Bring your child, car, and booster seat for a face-to-face instruction on proper installation and use from a nationally certified technician. Co-sponsored by Highgate and Franklin Fire Departments and the Be Seat Smart Program.

When: 9:30-11:30 Saturday 24 September

Where: Sheldon Interfaith Food Shelf

Introduction to mindfulness and meditation

When: 10am Saturday 24 September

Where: First Congregational Church, St Albans

Details: This class is the first in a three-part series exploring ways to reduce stress and stay centered. Everyone is welcome. The class is free, but to reserve your spot please call: 802-524-4555.

Disc golf tournament at Saint Albans Museum

When: 2-6pm Saturday 24 September

Where: Hard’Ack Recreation, St Albans

Details: The Saint Albans Museum hosts a disc golf tournament to support its mission to protect local history and culture. There will be a full 18 hole course with two person teams, recreational and advanced divisions with prizes for each division.

Chicken Pie Dinner

Where: Richford United Methodist Church, 86 River St., Richford

Details: A meal of chicken pie, mashed potatoes with gravy, squash, beets, coleslaw and pie. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 6-12 years old. It is recommended, but not required, to order in advance at 802-848-3477. Leave a message if nobody answers. Proceeds will go toward repairing the church.

The Johnny Cash Tribute Show

When: 7pm Saturday 24 September

Where: The Opera House at Enosburg Falls

Details: The Johnny Cash Tribute Show returns to the Enosburg Falls Opera House with a brand new show not to be missed. Admission 6:30 p.m., barge. Tickets are $20 and are available in advance below or at the box office.

Second Annual Outdoor Market and Fall Gathering

When: 11am-4pm Sunday 25 September

Where: The Soule House, 123 North Road, Fairfield

Details: Local vendors and food are for sale at this event, as are horse-drawn carriage rides.

2022 Buddy Walk

When: 12:30 p.m. Sunday 25 September

Where: Collins Perley Sports and Fitness Centre, St Albans

Details: An education, advocacy and celebration walk with the Down Syndrome community hosted by Northwest Counseling and Support Services. All are invited to show their support for inclusion and acceptance during Down Syndrome Awareness Month by teaming up to run. There will also be a sensory toy station, bouncy castle, free food and drinks.

EBCA Candidate Meet & Greet

When: 6-8pm, Tuesday 27 September

Where: The Opera House at Enosburg Falls

Details: Hosted by the Enosburg Business & Community Association, this event allows each candidate 5 minutes to introduce themselves. Light refreshments and a social gathering will follow. The event will be held indoors and outdoors to address any concerns.
